Fine Arts

As a member of the choir, you will develop as a singer, learn how to sing several foreign languages, sing a variety of styles, and be a part of a choral family. Between the Concert Choir, the auditioned Chamber Choir, or the pop-centered A Capella Choir, there is room for anyone who either loves music, loves singing, or wants to learn more.

We focus classwork on Studio applications of the Elements of Art and the principles of design.  We also work through a variety of different Art styles and Art movements.  Students will get a hands-on approach to learning about the many different forms of Art and their application in our modern society.

The Smiths Station High School Theatre Department provides students with opportunities to explore acting, stagecraft, and performance while building confidence, creativity, and collaboration. Students will produce two full-length productions each year that are open to the public and participate in a touring children's theatre program that brings performances to local schools and community audiences.

Students will also experience live theatre through field trips to regional venues such as The Springer Opera House, the Alabama Shakespeare Festival, and the Columbus State University Theatre Program. As the department grows, future opportunities will include participation in theatre competitions and scholarship opportunities for dedicated theatre students.

The program is supported by outstanding performance facilities, including a small, more intimate theatre at Smiths Station High School and a full auditorium located on the Smiths Station Junior High School campus, providing students with professional-quality spaces to learn, rehearse, and perform.
